Fresh Fruit Smoothies, Carrot Juice, and many vegetarian items were added to the menu with the very popular Sub Sandwiches.

In 1972, Albert Hardison, with the help of his daughters, Susie, Sandy, and Linda, opened one of the first Submarine sandwich shops in Tulsa. By 1975, Big Al's Subs had relocated to the corner of 15th and Harvard, evolving into Big Al's Subs and Health Foods. Fresh Fruit Smoothies, Carrot Juice, and many vegetarian items were added to the menu with the very popular Sub Sandwiches. Tulsa University students and faculty were thrilled with the new menu, as these new items were not yet available in Tulsa.

Al's oldest daughter, Pat, bought Big Al's in 1985. Since that time, she and her children, have owned and operated the restaurant.

Currently Pat and her son John Albert R., Al's grandson, are keeping the tradition of quality food that is health conscious still the focus today.

They have a simple and delicious menu and there staff is super friendly.
